Zhejiang International Studies University (hereinafter referred to as Zhejiang International Studies University, abbreviated as ZISU) is a provincial public undergraduate university which is guided by the discipline of regional and national studies, based on the discipline of foreign languages and literature, and supported by multiple disciplines. Founded in 1955 as Zhejiang Education College, the school began its undergraduate education in 1994 and was restructured and renamed in 2010 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The school motto is "Mingde Hongyi liberal understanding". In August 2018, the school successfully passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education, and the school entered a new historical period.

At present, the university has 13 teaching institutions and 36 undergraduate majors, including 16 foreign language majors, involving 14 foreign languages (English, Japanese, Spanish, French, Arabic, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, German, Czech, Turkish, Polish, Vietnamese). Seven majors, including English, Primary education, Arabic, translation, tourism management, Business English and Russian, are the national first-class undergraduate major construction points, ranking first among similar new undergraduate colleges in the province. There are also seven majors, including Chinese International Education, International Business, Chinese Language and Literature, International Economics and Trade, Korean, Spanish, Exhibition Economics and management, which are provincial first-class undergraduate majors. It has six provincial first-class disciplines, including foreign language and Literature, Regional Studies, Chinese Language and Literature, education, Business Administration (Tourism Management), and applied Economics. In 2024, the school officially becomes a master's degree-granting unit, and has been approved as a master's program in regional and national studies, and two professional master's programs in education and translation. Full-time postgraduate students will be enrolled from 2025.
